Bucharest – Saba:
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Israeli ambassador to the country to protest the Israeli occupation army's firing of live ammunition at a diplomatic delegation visiting Jenin refugee camp.
The incident occurred on Wednesday as the Arab and foreign diplomats were there to assess the situation of Palestinian residents.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Romanian ministry confirmed it had held an urgent discussion with the Israeli ambassador in Bucharest following the "incident in Jenin against a group of diplomats, Palestinian officials, and journalists, including the head of the Romanian mission in Ramallah."
The ministry stated it expressed "particular concern about this incident and requesting clarification of the circumstances under which it occurred."
The Romanian Foreign Ministry further noted that it would continue to coordinate with other European Union member states and partners "to clarify the circumstances of this unfortunate incident and learn the results of the investigations initiated by the Israelis."
