Naypyidaw - Saba:
A 5.2-magnitude earthquake has struck central Myanmar, continuing the seismic activity the country has been experiencing since the violent earthquake that struck at the end of March, which caused significant human and material losses.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 21 kilometers southwest of Kyaukse town in the Mandalay region, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The Global Disaster Early Warning Network reported, according to news agencies, that the earthquake could affect approximately 7,000 people in areas near its epicenter, with the potential humanitarian impact classified as moderate.
So far, there have been no reports of injuries or material damage from the earthquake, but authorities continue to closely monitor the situation, especially in light of the ongoing seismic activity in the region.
It's worth noting that this earthquake is part of a series of aftershocks following the devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28, killing more than 5,300 people in Myanmar and causing widespread destruction to infrastructure and historic buildings.
