Geneva - Saba:
Amnesty International Secretary General Agnes Callamard called on all international actors, particularly the European Union, to take serious steps to stop the genocide being perpetrated by the Israeli entity against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, whether through the use of military weapons or starvation policies that have rendered the Strip "completely foodless."
In a press statement on Monday, Callamard called on these actors to pressure the Israeli entity to allow the entry of food, water, and medicine into the Gaza Strip, and to work to hold accountable those responsible for genocide and war crimes.
She spoke about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, based on her observations and field monitoring of the ongoing genocide that has been taking place for 19 months, exacerbated by the Israeli regime's imposition of a comprehensive blockade on the Palestinian Strip since March 2.
In this context, Callamard noted the "alarm bells" in the Gaza Strip due to the depletion of food and all essentials of life, especially after the Israeli regime resumed its genocidal crimes last March.
She said, "We know that people are suffering from severe shortages of food, water, and medicine. The World Food Organization, the World Health Organization, and all other UN and humanitarian organizations are sounding the alarm. There is no more food in Gaza."
She emphasized the seriousness of the situation by repeatedly repeating the phrase "there is no more food in Gaza," describing the conditions across the Palestinian Strip as "absolutely terrifying."
She emphasized that what is happening in Gaza is "genocide in full view of everyone."
