Spanish media reports indicate that Real Madrid is very close to hiring Spanish coach Xabi Alonso to lead the team after the end of the current season. Journalist Matteo Moretto of Relevo reported that Alonso has agreed in principle to coach Los Blancos and is close to reaching a final agreement with the club.

Alonso is expected to meet soon with Bayer Leverkusen's management to inform them of his desire to leave and return to Spain. Meanwhile, the report indicated that the Brazilian Football Confederation is completing the formal procedures for appointing coach Carlo Ancelotti as coach of the Brazilian national team, after the latter gave his final approval.
