Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed during his participation in the educational marathon "Knowledge First" that relations between Russia and Europe will undoubtedly recover sooner or later.
The Russia Today website quoted Putin as saying on Wednesday: "The current situation is more complicated than during the Great Patriotic War (World War II), where everything was clear: black and white, red and brown... But I have no doubt that our relations with Europe will eventually be restored—this is certain."
The Russian president pointed out that many people in Europe support Russia despite the pressures, stating: "In Europe as a whole, there are many who share our position. Some remain silent, while others speak very modestly—so quietly that they go unheard. Of course, there are a few people who, despite pressure from official authorities, dare to express their views—not just to speak, but to demonstrate that they have their stance."
It is worth noting that this year’s event, organized by the Russian "Knowledge" Society, is dedicated to celebrating the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II—also known as the Great Patriotic War—and its role in history, as well as its significance for Russia’s present and future.
The marathon events are being held from April 28 to 30 in ten Russian cities: Moscow, Kazan, Vladikavkaz, Omsk, Perm, Sevastopol, Ryazan, Salekhard, Saint Petersburg, and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. In Moscow, the marathon is taking place at the Victory Museum.
