Amnesty International announced that the world is witnessing an unprecedented, historic deterioration in the human rights situation, threatening the global order based on international agreements, humanitarian law, and international courts.
It explained that new dark forces are waging a campaign of incitement against universal human rights principles.
Amnesty's annual report, which covers 150 countries, noted continued pressure on civilians in conflict zones, a decline in adherence to international norms, and a growing failure by states to defend human rights, including those that have long claimed to uphold them, such as the United States.
The report highlighted the situation in Gaza, accusing Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians and destroying their homes, hospitals, and schools, amidst the international community's silence. It also accused the United States of playing a role in exacerbating the global human rights crisis.
The organization called on governments to respect international arrest warrants, including the warrant issued against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and called for reform of the Security Council, with the need to make human rights the center of international policy.
