Seoul - Saba:
Devastating wildfires raging across South Korea have resulted in the deaths of at least two firefighters and the evacuation of hundreds of residents. Emergency responders are battling over 30 blazes, fueled by dry, strong winds.
The most severe fires are concentrated in southeastern regions, particularly Sancheong County, where 260 individuals have been displaced and sought refuge in temporary shelters.
Tragically, two firefighters lost their lives, and another firefighter and a government employee are missing, trapped by the rapidly spreading flames.
Five other emergency workers were rescued and are receiving treatment for injuries. The Korea Forestry Administration reports that the Sancheong fire has consumed over 500 hectares (1,200 acres) of forest.
Nearly 1,600 emergency personnel, 35 helicopters, and numerous vehicles have been deployed, but containment efforts are hampered by the challenging mountainous terrain and persistent strong winds, with only 35% of the fire contained as of Saturday evening
