This Thursday morning, Zionist enemy forces stormed the schools of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Shu'fat camp, northeast of occupied Al-Quds, as a decision to close them came into effect.
Military orders demanding the evacuation and shutdown of the schools were posted.
According to Quds Press Agency, enemy police forces deployed around and inside the schoolyards amid high tensions and fears of attacks on students and teachers. This escalation is part of a systematic Zionist campaign against Palestinian educational institutions in the city.
Students and educational staff were ordered to leave the premises immediately.
In early April, the enemy authorities handed the principal of the girls' school in Shu'fat camp a military order to close the school effective May 8, 2025, under the pretext of "lacking legal licensing." The order prohibits anyone from entering the school buildings after this date, considering any violation a "criminal offense."
The closure decision also includes five other UNRWA schools in Silwan, Wadi al-Joz, and Sur Bahir, where more than 800 male and female students receive their education.
A month ago, the Israeli enemy police informed all UNRWA school principals in Shu'fat camp of the closure orders, giving them a 30-day notice.
Palestinian sources reported that the enemy has instructed UNRWA school administrations in Shu'fat camp to transfer students to schools run by the enemy's municipality in Al-Quds.
