SANA'A September 03. 2024 (Saba) — The Supreme Committee for Emergency Response and Flood Damage (SCERFD) convened on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Administration, Local, and Rural Development Mohammed al-Madani.

The meeting focused on evaluating the extent of flood damage across various provinces, assessing the effectiveness of relief efforts, and reviewing plans for future development and prevention.

The session addressed the emergency response plan, outlining the roles and responsibilities of involved agencies, as well as organizational and operational strategies.

Deputy Prime Minister al-Madani emphasized the need for ongoing coordination and communication with relevant authorities to address flood damage, ensure timely rescue and relief operations, and provide essential aid to affected populations.

Al-Madani stressed the importance of aligning damage assessment efforts with the swift implementation of relief and development projects to mitigate the impact of floods and heavy rains. Coordination with pertinent authorities was highlighted as crucial in this process.

The Deputy Prime Minister commended the contributions of local communities, central and local government agencies, the private sector, and civil society organizations in addressing flood damage and providing relief.

He also underscored the role of media and social platforms in encouraging community involvement to minimize and manage damage.

Al-Madani praised the efforts of the General Authority of Zakat, the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, the Development Interventions Unit, and various civil society groups for their interventions and support in disaster response and recovery.
