The Yemeni Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Samir Baja’alah, met with the heads of several Horn of Africa communities and a representative of the Tigray ethnic group, where they discussed the conditions of their communities and the relations between their countries and Yemen.
The minister affirmed the directives of the revolutionary and political leadership regarding the care and protection of migrants and refugees in Yemen, emphasizing the ministry’s role in regulating the legal, social, and economic affairs of foreign communities—particularly in relation to work permits, residency, and the oversight of organizations providing services to these communities. He stressed the importance of protecting the rights of foreign workers and ensuring that the activities of organizations align with national policies, including regulating foreign labor through issuing and renewing work permits.
Minister Baja’alah expressed the ministry’s readiness to address any issues facing these communities, especially concerning the legal requirements for residency, work permits, and licensing of professions. He also noted that the ministry’s approach to dealing with African communities and refugees is rooted in religious, humanitarian, and fraternal principles, based on tolerance, coexistence, justice, and goodwill.
The minister touched on recent local and international developments, highlighting Yemen’s stance in resisting global tyranny and arrogance, and lauded the recent victories achieved by the Islamic Republic of Iran against Israeli and American aggression.
For their part, the community leaders expressed gratitude for the attention and support provided by Yemen’s leadership and people, praising the wisdom, hospitality, and nobility of the Yemeni nation. They also voiced their appreciation for Yemen’s courageous positions in supporting Gaza, the Palestinian people, and all Arab and Islamic causes.
