TAIZ June 11. 2024 (Saba) - An introductory workshop was held on Tuesday in Taiz province for the community committees of the response project to enhance food security for livestock in some areas in al-Taezeyah distrct of Yaiz province.
The workshop, organized by the Small and Micro Enterprises Development Agency, the Social Fund for Development, in partnership with the Agriculture and Irrigation Office and the local authority in the province and in coordination with the office of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, aims to identify the criteria for selecting productive families.
It also aims to raise the targeted names of livestock breeders by the members of the community committees that were selected, 21 members representing the Knights of Development, the Women's Development Department, village councils and social figures in the various targeted isolated areas according to the criteria.
At the workshop, Undersecretary for Development and Services, Abdulwase al-Shamsi emphasized the importance of such activities that help reach the stage of self-sufficiency in raising livestock for productive families and benefiting from their derivatives such as milk and cheese.
Al-Shamsi stressed the need to register the poorest and most needy families for livestock and raise 1,200 names of livestock breeders according to the approved work plan.
He pointed out that in the near future, cheese factories and factories will be established and a cheese festival will be held in the province.
For their part, Livestock Supervisor at the Facilities Development Agency at the Social Fund for Development Mohammed al-Qarma reviewed the objectives, mechanisms and criteria for selecting breeding and producing families, the interventions carried out by the project, and the mechanism for forming production groups for small producers and forming production groups.
He noted the necessity of raising the names of cow breeders and taking into account families headed by women, families with disabilities, as well as families with more children.
