Hodeidah - Saba:
An expanded meeting of scholars, preachers, mentors, social figures, and educators was held on Sunday in Marawah District, Hodeidah Governorate, as part of preparations and mobilization efforts for the events commemorating the Prophet’s Birthday (Mawlid al-Nabi) for the year 1447 AH.
The meeting, organized by the Guidance Sector and the Scholars and Learners Unit in the district, was attended by District Director Abdullah Al-Marouni. It emphasized the importance of leveraging the Prophet’s Birthday to strengthen faith-based identity, instill Quranic values and principles in society, and the role of scholars and preachers in shaping religious discourse to meet contemporary needs and shield generations from foreign influences. The meeting also discussed mechanisms for organizing events across the district’s villages and sub-districts, reflecting the occasion’s significance in the hearts of Yemenis.
Sheikh Ali Sawmal, head of the Scholars Unit in the governorate, described the Prophet’s Birthday as a unifying event for the nation, redrawing the path of guidance and realigning compasses toward the authentic Muhammadan approach. He stressed its role in reinforcing allegiance to the divine project in the face of attempts to erase identity and impose Westernization.
He explained that this occasion serves as a spiritual milestone to renew the covenant with Allah and His Messenger, deepening awareness of the responsibilities of the current phase. He underscored the duty of scholars and preachers to raise awareness about the importance of commemorating the event in a manner befitting the stature of the noble Prophet.
Sawmal noted that celebrating the Prophet’s Birthday is a celebration of the values brought by the greatest Prophet (peace be upon him and his household), which represent the path to salvation for the nation in times of trials and challenges. He called for active engagement in the events and presenting a honorable image of Marawah’s people.
For his part, Sheikh Musa Ma’afi, head of the Scholars and Learners Unit in the Eastern Square of the governorate, highlighted the importance of broadening popular participation in the events to include all segments of society. This ensures the spiritual message of the occasion reaches every household and embeds prophetic values in daily life.
He pointed out that the Prophet’s Birthday presents an opportunity to revive the spirit of jihad in hearts and stand in solidarity with the nation’s causes, foremost among them Palestine, drawing inspiration from the Prophet’s life in perseverance and resolve amid challenges.
Ma’afi stressed the need for effective preparation to hold events in all villages and sub-districts, reflecting the grandeur of the occasion and embodying the supreme status of the Prophet in the hearts of Yemenis. He considered strong attendance a message of loyalty and gratitude to the eternal role model across the ages.
