Stans - Saba:
Swiss private aircraft manufacturer Pilatus on Friday said it has temporarily suspended deliveries of its PC-12 and PC-24 aircraft to the United States, citing new US tariffs.
The company, based in the central Swiss city of Stans, said the United States is a key market for Pilatus, accounting for approximately 40% of its annual PC-12 and PC-24 production.
The company added, "The new tariffs imposed by the US authorities represent a significant competitive disadvantage for Pilatus."
It continued, "In the short term, the tariffs will lead to a temporary suspension of deliveries and, consequently, a temporary cessation of business in the United States."
Switzerland was shocked on Thursday after US President Donald Trump imposed hefty tariffs of 39% on its goods.
Pilatus said the "enormous additional costs and resulting competitive disadvantages" have also increased customer uncertainty. The company indicated that it will consider allocating PC-12 and PC-24 aircraft to other markets, while also accelerating its efforts to expand domestic production, including the planned assembly plant in Sarasota, Florida. The company explained that it is doing everything possible to secure the jobs of its 3,000 employees.
