Gaza – Saba:
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated on Wednesday that Israeli soldiers cannot continue shooting at Palestinians as they try to find food for their families.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), monitored by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), UNRWA said: "For months, the UN has warned of the unfolding consequences in Gaza. Today, Palestinians are starving and being shot at while searching for food for their families."
The agency stressed: "This situation cannot continue. A political decision must be made to open the crossings without conditions,” emphasizing the need to allow the UN and its partners to do their work.
Unprecedented Hunger Crisis in Gaza
Since Israel closed Gaza's crossings in early March, Palestinians in the Strip have faced an unprecedented wave of hunger due to strict restrictions on the entry of food aid, relief supplies, fuel, and medicine.
Over time, Gaza's residents have exhausted all food resources, leaving shops empty and making finding a single loaf of bread nearly impossible. Available goods have seen skyrocketing prices, with starvation now becoming one of the leading causes of death in the Strip.
Israeli forces continue their daily attacks on Palestinians waiting for aid in Gaza, particularly since the implementation of the U.S.-backed Israeli mechanism supervised by the so-called "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation" on May 27.
