Ottawa – Saba:
Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Wednesday the official signing of German striker Thomas Müller on a free transfer, following the expiration of his contract with Bayern Munich at the end of the last season.
Müller’s contract with the MLS club will run until the end of 2026.
Müller bid farewell to Bayern Munich after a 25-year journey, with his contract ending this summer and not being renewed. His final match for the Bavarian giants was a 2-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup earlier this month.
At 35 years old, Müller leaves behind an unmatched legacy at Bayern Munich, including:
- All-time appearance leader (755 matches), surpassing goalkeeping legend Sepp Maier (709).
- Third-highest scorer in club history (behind Gerd Müller – 565 goals and Robert Lewandowski – 344).
- 276 assists, proving he was not just a scorer but also a playmaking maestro.
