Gaza – Saba:
Dr. Mohammad Abu Salmiya, director of al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza, warned Wednesday that anesthetic supplies in the sector will run out within 48 hours due to the ongoing Israeli aggression and tight blockade, as the hospital continues to receive large numbers of severe injuries daily.
He highlighted that most injuries involve the upper body, including head and chest wounds, requiring urgent surgical intervention. However, the shortage of anesthetics threatens to halt life-saving operations.
Dr. Abu Salmiya also noted a severe shortage of blood units and insufficient operating rooms, resulting in the loss of many patients who cannot be treated in time.
The heavy pressure on medical staff and the collapse of the health system caused by the blockade and continuous attacks further endanger thousands of wounded patients.
These warnings come amid growing fears of a widespread health and humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, with the healthcare system near collapse and critical medical supplies running dangerously low due to ongoing Israeli assaults and siege.
