Accra - Saba:
Ghana announced on Wednesday the deaths of Defense Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment, Science, and Technology Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, along with seven others, in a helicopter crash.
Ghana News Agency reported that a military helicopter crashed in the Afram Plains district of the Ashanti region while carrying government officials en route to an event in Obuasi.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as "horrific," with the helicopter bursting into flames after the crash.
Ghanaian authorities confirmed that the aircraft belonged to the Ghana Armed Forces.
Among the victims were:
- The Defense Minister,
- The Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation,
- The acting National Security Coordinator and former Minister of Food and Agriculture,
- Along with several other senior government officials.
