Sana'a – Saba:
A training course in the field of development work concluded on Wednesday in Shu'ub District of the Capital Secretariat.
The course was organized by the local council in the district, in cooperation with Bonyan Development Foundation and the Bonyan Academy for Training and Qualification, as part of the Volunteer Support Program.
The 15-day course, supported by the Capital Secretariat's Unit for Financing Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives, in collaboration with the Social Affairs and Labor Office and the Agricultural Cooperative Union, aimed to equip 26 trainees—referred to as “Development Knights”—with the basics of volunteer work, development resources, community initiatives, and urban development.
At the closing ceremony, attended by Abdullah Al-Kahlani, representative of the Ministry of Local Administration and Rural Development, and Nabil Rajeh, Director of Associations at the Secretariat's Social Affairs Office, Secretary of Shu'ub Local Council Mohammed Al-Hadhrami highlighted the role of the Development Knights Program in preparing volunteers for current and future stages of development work.
He praised the role of the Financing Unit in building the capacities of local cadres , involving the community in development and overcoming challenges. He also commended the efforts of Bonyan Foundation and Academy in training development workers, describing it as a “development fortress” that qualifies cooperative association staff to become role models for others.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Awadh, Bonyan Foundation Coordinator for Shu'ub, Al-Thawrah, and Al-Wahdah districts, stressed the need for cooperation among various entities to revive the spirit of volunteerism, encourage community initiatives, and promote teamwork. He underscored the importance of the Development Knights’ role in advancing local development, boosting initiatives, and activating the community's role in various aspects of development—especially agricultural development.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Tareq Jumaan emphasized their commitment to applying what they had learned in real-life situations and sharing it with the community to fulfill their assigned tasks and activate cooperative development work in Shu'ub District.
