Chelsea FC announced Sunday the signing of 19-year-old Dutch international defender Jorrel Hato from Ajax Amsterdam on a contract running until 2032.

The young defender will immediately join first-team training having developed through Sparta Rotterdam's youth system before joining Ajax Academy in 2018 and making his professional debut at just 16 years old in 2022.

Hato brings notable experience including
- 6 senior caps for Netherlands since debuting at 17
- Captaincy of Netherlands U21 at this summer's Euro U21
- Champions League Youth League appearances

The signing continues Chelsea's strategy of investing in elite young talent following their Club World Cup victory and fourth-place Premier League finish last season with 69 points.
