Ramallah - Saba:
The Palestinian Center for Prisoners' Defense welcomed last night the statements made by French President Emmanuel Macron during a meeting with a popular crowd, considering them a significant shift in international discourse on the issue of Palestinian prisoners.
The center said in a statement that President Macron's demand for the release of all Palestinian and Israeli prisoners and the cessation of aggression represents justice in the long-awaited international and European positions, which we hope will translate into practical implementation.
In this context, the center called on other European countries to follow the French president's lead in this progressive position.
The center emphasized that the Israeli enemy is holding at least 10,000 living Palestinian prisoners and detainees, along with more than 700 bodies of Palestinians, including martyred prisoners, in morgues, or what are known as "cemeteries of numbers."
The Palestinian Center for Prisoners' Defense considered these statements a step in the right direction, hoping they will be followed by real political pressure to release Palestinian prisoners and end the policy of illegal detention, human rights violations, enforced disappearances, and torture, which has claimed the lives of nearly 80 Palestinian prisoners and detainees in the past two years.
