The Palestinian Freedom Movement condemned Mahmoud Abbas's statements regarding the call for elections as part of a new conditional electoral system that would determine the Zionist form of the intended Palestinian state, in accordance with its alleged international legitimacy.
In a press statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) on Sunday, the movement affirmed its categorical rejection of any electoral proposal in light of the ongoing massacres in the Gaza Strip, the annexation and settlement policies in the West Bank, and the intensive Judaization operations in Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque. The movement considered that the national priority now is to stop the genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people, rather than to be preoccupied with superficial steps aimed at beautifying the Palestinian Authority.
The statement stressed that any talk of elections must take place through comprehensive national consensus, under the slogan "The Palestinian Home for All Palestinians," without exclusion or isolation. It warned against the policies of relying on foreign influence and acquiescence to Zionist-American dictates.
The movement considered Abbas's conditions for holding elections, which aim to exclude resistance forces and restrict their weapons under the pretext of compliance with international legitimacy, to reflect a clear submission to the desires of the entity and the US administration. It asked, "What international legitimacy is Abbas talking about while our people are being slaughtered and exterminated in cold blood before the eyes of his international legitimacy? The eyes of the world?"
The Movement emphasized that the weapons of resistance are the true and only legitimacy capable of protecting the national project. They will shape the contours of the Palestinian state with Quds as its capital, not settlement agreements or foreign dictates.
In concluding the statement, the Movement called on the Palestinian people, across all political and intellectual spectrums, to unite and maintain national vigilance to thwart all the schemes of the enemy and the US administration aimed at tearing apart the Palestinian fabric. It held Abbas and those behind him responsible for the continued division and attempts to dismantle the national resistance project.
