Occupied Quds – SABA:
Israeli media reported Thursday that an Israeli reserve soldier committed suicide following his return from combat duty in the Gaza Strip.
According to Yedioth Ahronoth, the soldier, Roi Fershlstein, took his own life on Wednesday after being deeply traumatized by what the paper described as horrific scenes he witnessed during his nearly 300 days of service in Gaza.
Fershlstein served in the 401st Brigade’s body evacuation unit, where he was involved in retrieving and transporting dead and wounded soldiers—a role that reportedly left him with a severe psychological breakdown.
This marks the second suicide by an Israeli soldier in the past week and the sixth this month, with most cases attributed to psychological trauma stemming from the graphic violence and destruction encountered in Gaza.
