Oleg Melnichenko, the governor of Penza Oblast in the central European part of Russia, announced on Saturday that one person was killed and two others injured in a Ukrainian drone attack targeting a site in the city of Penza.
According to Russia’s "Novosti" news agency, Melnichenko stated on his Telegram channel: "Early this morning, a site in Penza was hit by another drone attack. I am currently at the scene where emergency teams are working. Sadly, a woman lost her life and two others were injured."
He noted that mobile internet services were restricted for security reasons and a "aerial threat alert" was declared, along with the suspension of public transportation.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that 112 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight in the southwestern regions of the country and over the Azov and Black Seas.
