London – Saba:
Newcastle United have officially completed the signing of England international goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on a one-season loan from Southampton, who were relegated to the Championship.
In a statement published on their official website Saturday, Newcastle confirmed: "The club has completed the signing of goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on a season-long loan." No further details were provided.
The 27-year-old joins Newcastle after spending the 2024–2025 season with Southampton, having moved there from Arsenal in the previous summer.
Ramsdale spent only one season with Southampton after two years at Arsenal, where he lost his starting spot to Spanish goalkeeper David Raya during the 2023–2024 campaign.
Prior to joining Arsenal, Ramsdale began his professional career with Sheffield United before moving to Bournemouth, where manager Eddie Howe gave him his Premier League debut in 2019.
Throughout his Premier League career, Ramsdale has made 183 appearances and kept 41 clean sheets. He has also earned five caps for the England national team.
Newcastle turned to Ramsdale after failing to secure the signing of James Trafford, who joined Manchester City last month in a £27 million (€31 million) move.
