Gaza – SABA:
The Ministry of Interior and National Security in the Gaza Strip on Thursday held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for deliberately spreading chaos in the territory and sponsoring looting and thuggish networks that have taken control of aid trucks.
In a statement, the ministry said the Israeli occupation aims to deprive more than two million Palestinians of safe access to humanitarian aid, thereby perpetuating famine in the Strip. This, the ministry asserted, is a blatant attempt by Israel to absolve itself of its legal responsibility for using starvation as a weapon of war.
The ministry noted that the Israeli regime is pursuing a policy of engineered starvation against the Palestinian people and deliberately creating chaos around humanitarian aid. This includes allowing the entry of limited aid shipments despite the worsening famine, coupled with a tight blockade and the restriction of essential food supplies since March.
The Gaza Interior Ministry highlighted that Israeli forces are deliberately targeting its personnel as they attempt to secure aid convoys managed by international organizations, in an effort to prevent safe distribution and sustain chaotic conditions.
“In the face of this criminal policy, which has persisted for months, we have opted to allow local initiatives to step in and help secure aid trucks, countering Israel’s false accusations and justifications,” the ministry added.
It pointed to the recent role played by Palestinian families and clans who took it upon themselves to provide security for aid convoys. However, the Israeli occupation responded by targeting young members of these clans, killing dozens and ultimately undermining these community-led efforts during an already difficult time.
The ministry stressed that Israel actively sabotages any signs of order in Gaza, regardless of the party involved, in an attempt to maintain a state of disorder across the Strip.
It also stated that the limited number of aid trucks allowed into Gaza—many of which fall under the control of looters and thugs under Israeli oversight—does nothing to address the growing famine.
The ministry called on the international community to exert maximum pressure on the Israeli occupation to stop targeting civilian teams tasked with securing aid convoys and to allow the entry of sufficient quantities of aid to be distributed by experienced UN agencies so that it reaches those in need.
According to the ministry, Israel’s policy of sponsoring looting gangs has forced tens of thousands of residents to flood the streets, walk long distances, and risk their lives in desperate attempts to feed their children. This situation often results in part of the aid being damaged due to overcrowding and stampedes.
This, the ministry explained, occurs while Israeli forces deliberately target civilians near aid entry routes, committing massacres that result in dozens of deaths daily across northern, central, and southern Gaza—as witnessed yesterday and today.
It also dismissed Israeli claims that food is being distributed through the so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation” as deceptive propaganda, saying the organization has a notorious reputation and was established for suspicious, security-related purposes that serve Israel’s criminal agenda.
The Interior Ministry warned of the continued use of airdrops to deliver aid, calling it dangerous due to overcrowded areas and the widespread presence of displaced persons’ tents. This method, it said, creates more chaos by forcing tens of thousands to scramble for aid boxes, often resulting in injuries and property damage. The ministry described this approach as a tool for manipulating global public opinion with false images of humanitarian relief.
It confirmed that police and security forces will continue pursuing looters and collaborators with the occupation and will enforce strict field measures against them under the current state of emergency.
Finally, the ministry urged the Palestinian public in Gaza to avoid gathering along aid routes for their own safety and to prevent the chaos that the Israeli occupation seeks to perpetuate. It called on the people to help shift the equation and compel Israel to stop targeting aid convoys, ensuring that assistance reaches neighborhoods and homes in a safe and orderly manner.
