Bayda - Saba:
A meeting chaired by Governor Abdullah Idris at the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation in Rada'a city, Al-Bayda province, discussed procedures for drilling new water wells to secure current water sources.
The meeting, attended by Deputy Governor Saleh Al-Jawfi, Executive Director of Yemen Development Foundation Dr. Hamdan Al-Shami, and Director of the Local Water Corporation Engineer Abdulghani Al-Mukhtar, approved the drilling of new wells and the rehabilitation of existing water sources to alleviate the ongoing crisis caused by the deterioration of water resources.
The meeting reviewed the support Yemen Development Foundation will provide for drilling a new water well in Rada'a, with the local authority and water corporation responsible for its operation to mitigate the suffering caused by increasing water demand.
Governor Idris emphasized the local leadership’s commitment to implementing the project, which aims to provide drinking water for citizens and reduce their hardships amid the country's current circumstances. He expressed the leadership’s readiness to overcome any challenges to improve water services for Rada'a residents, in addition to existing wells.
Engineer Al-Mukhtar, Director of the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation, explained that this step is part of the local authority’s and corporation’s efforts, following earlier measures to secure funding for well drilling through central interventions by the Ministry of Administration, Local Development, and Rural Affairs, as well as coordination with the Ministry of Electricity, Energy, and Water to mobilize organizations and donors for financing.
Earlier, Governor Idris, Dr. Al-Shami, and Engineer Al-Mukhtar inspected the current wells to assess their condition. Dr. Al-Shami expressed the foundation’s readiness to provide necessary support for drilling a new well to help alleviate the water source degradation issue.
