Dhamar - Saba:
The Agriculture Sector Branch and the Jabal Al-Sharq Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperative Association in Jabal Al-Sharq Directorate, Dhamar Province, launched on Monday the distribution and planting of 4,500 fruit seedlings produced in the Hran Model Nurseries.
The initiative is funded by the Improvement Sector in the governorate in cooperation with the Executive Unit for Managing Agricultural Project and Initiative Funds.
During the launch, Director of the Directorate Mohsen Shaqdam emphasized the importance of expanding fruit tree cultivation and activating the role of house gardens, orchards, and fields as agricultural foundations that contribute to enhancing food security.
He urged farmers to care for the seedlings to ensure their fruitful yield and encouraged them to join the association to benefit from its privileges and services. Shaqdam considered the distribution initiative a significant step toward self-sufficiency and achieving desired agricultural development.
He directed the Agriculture Sector Branch, the association, and development stakeholders to monitor and evaluate the success of the seedlings' cultivation until fruition, targeting government facilities' yards and fields, and promoting intercropping to ensure their success as exemplary agricultural models for farmers to follow.
For his part, Acting Director of the Agriculture Branch in the Directorate, Engineer Mohammed Rashid, explained that the seedling distribution follows a well-studied plan aimed at covering areas with suitable conditions for cultivation, with follow-up and evaluation of their future success and productivity.
He praised the efforts of the governorate’s leadership, the agriculture sector, and local authorities in advancing agriculture and expanding cultivated areas.
Meanwhile, Dr. Fahad Al-Mathana, Chairman of the Jabal Al-Sharq Agricultural Cooperative Association, stated that the free distribution of fruit seedlings to farmers aligns with the directives of the revolutionary and political leadership, as well as the Supreme Agricultural and Fisheries Committee, to encourage farmers to expand the cultivation of economically beneficial fruit trees and create productive green spaces.
Farmers, in turn, commended the efforts made to provide fruit seedlings free of charge as a motivational step to encourage them to expand fruit tree cultivation.
