New York – Saba:

Spokesperson for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Thamin Al-Khitan expressed concern on Saturday over the increasing attacks carried out by settlers against Palestinian civilians in the West Bank in occupied Palestine, stressing that these attacks are not isolated incidents.

Al-Khitan said in a press statement: "On June 25, dozens of armed settlers launched coordinated attacks on several villages in Ramallah and Nablus, setting fire to Palestinian vehicles and homes, and firing live ammunition," according to the official Palestinian News Agency.

He explained that three Palestinians were martyred by Israeli enemy fire during the attack, which targeted a village near Ramallah (Kafr Malik), while at least six others were wounded by gunfire.

Al-Khitan stressed that "this incident is not isolated, but rather part of an ongoing pattern of discriminatory practices by Israeli enemy forces, which are often present at the sites of such attacks but, despite being an occupying power with a responsibility to protect the Palestinian people, refrain from intervening."

He pointed out that reports prepared by the Office of the High Commissioner on casualties in the area since October 7, 2023, showed that Israeli settlers had killed 14 Palestinians in the West Bank, including two children.
