West Bank: Arrests over pro-Iran posts
West Bank: Arrests over pro-Iran posts
West Bank: Arrests over pro-Iran posts
[Mon, 23 Jun 2025 15:33:45 +0300]

Ramallah - Saba:

In recent days, the West Bank has witnessed a significant increase in arrests and home raids by Israeli forces, following Palestinians' posts on social media glorifying the resistance and celebrating the Iranian bombing of the occupier entity.

Sources told Quds Press that the Israeli occupation authorities issued administrative detention sentences to dozens of young men for posting posts related to the war on Iran and celebrating the missiles that pounded cities inside the occupied territories.

For her part, prisoner rights activist Aya Shriteh said that the majority of arrests since the beginning of the war between Iran and the enemy have focused on incitement, more so than in previous periods. This coincides with an increase in administrative detentions, which have become the easiest means of suppressing people.

Shriteh noted that the Israeli occupation deliberately issues administrative detention sentences even for those who have cases for which they can be tried, so that they can be re-investigated under emergency circumstances.

Shriteh revealed that hundreds of phones were confiscated from most of the homes recently raided in various areas, and these were never returned. More precisely, the vast majority were never returned, emphasizing that phones have become the easiest tool for arrest.

Shriteh noted that in many cases, anyone who shared videos of rockets or expressed anything patriotic was arrested, which falls under the occupation's classification and accusations of incitement. If they are unable to formulate an indictment, they are transferred to administrative detention.

For his part, young man Alaa Rahal stated that in recent days, Israeli soldiers stationed at the Hamra military checkpoint in the northern West Bank have deliberately conducted searches and inspections of the cell phones and Facebook accounts of everyone who passes through them. Anyone found to have videos documenting the bombing of Israeli cities or glorifying the resistance was severely beaten.

Rahhal emphasized that many young men faced beatings, torture, and being thrown for long hours near checkpoints due to their participation in social media groups that typically publish national news and details of the recent war.

For his part, writer and political analyst Marwan al-Qablani commented on these enemy practices, saying, "The West Bank is witnessing a fierce campaign of raids and arrests that has spread across large areas, coinciding with the attack on Iran."

Al-Qablani stated in his interview with Quds Press that this campaign aims to demonstrate their ability to control the situation through military pressure and intimidation of West Bank residents, making them afraid to express their opinions on the ongoing events.

In recent days, five arrests have been recorded among women from the West Bank and the occupied territories for writing posts that Israeli intelligence described as inflammatory. Two of the women were from villages south of Nablus, another from the city of Salfit, a fourth from Tubas, and the fifth from the occupied territories.

Dozens of homes in the West Bank were raided following social media posts or celebrations of Iranian missiles targeting the occupied entity. During these operations, soldiers engaged in all forms of terrorism and vandalism, placing posters threatening Palestinians if they supported, shared, or displayed any supportive or celebratory posts for the resistance or were hostile to the enemy.
