The press office of the Russian Security Council announced that the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu, is holding talks in Pyongyang with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Sputnik quoted the press office as saying in a statement: "Negotiations between the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu, and the Chairman of the State Affairs Council of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kim Jong Un, have begun in Pyongyang."
Earlier on Tuesday, Shoigu arrived in Pyongyang at the special request of Russian President Vladimir Putin. This is his third visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in nearly three months.
The press office of the Russian Security Council reported: "Sergei Shoigu arrived in Pyongyang at the special request of Russian President Vladimir Putin to hold talks with the leadership of the DPRK within the framework of implementing the agreements reached during his last visit on June 4."
These agreements are being implemented within the framework of the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Russian Federation and the DPRK."
Shoigu's last visit to Pyongyang was on June 4. At that time, the Russian Security Council Secretary also met with Kim Jong Un. They discussed the situation in Ukraine, the recovery of the Kursk Oblast, and commemorating the Korean fighters who helped liberate the Oblast.
