Occupied Quds – Saba:
The Israeli Shin Bet security agency admitted on Tuesday that one of its officers was killed after being targeted by an explosive device east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
In a statement reported by the Palestinian news agency Safa, Shin Bet said the slain officer had served in the agency for years and was killed while on reserve duty with the Israeli army’s Golani Brigade.
The Israeli military had previously announced on Monday the death of a captain who served as a deputy company commander in the reserves, after an explosive device detonated inside a house in Khan Younis. The officer is the same individual whose death Shin Bet confirmed today.
According to Safa, such cases of Shin Bet officers serving in military roles are rare.
Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, claimed responsibility for the operation, stating that its fighters successfully detonated a pre-rigged house where Zionist enemy soldiers had taken shelter in Khan Younis, using high-powered explosives.
