Moscow - (Saba):
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Monday that the army's air defense forces intercepted and shot down 12 Ukrainian drones over the Oryol and Voronezh regions, near the border with Ukraine.
Russian news agencies quoted the ministry as saying in a statement: "From 11:55 PM Moscow time on June 15 to 2:45 AM Moscow time on June 16, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 12 Ukrainian drones: 11 over the territory of the Oryol region and one over the territory of the Voronezh region."
Voronezh region governor Alexander Gusev reported on his Telegram channel that no casualties or damage were recorded as a result of the drone attack.
The governor said: "The threat of a drone attack in the region remains."
Ukrainian armed factions carry out almost daily raids against civilian targets and residential areas in the border and central regions of Russia, using Western-made drones and missiles.
As a retaliatory measure, the Russian military is launching powerful precision strikes against Ukrainian personnel and equipment concentrations, foreign mercenary centers, and industrial facilities engaged in the production of weapons and military equipment.
