Dozens of students and graduates protested during the graduation ceremony at the University of Staten Island, a college of the City University of New York (CUNY), denouncing what they described as the university's complicity in supporting the genocide being perpetrated against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip for more than a year and a half.
According to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) on Saturday, the protesters wore the Palestinian keffiyeh and held up signs demanding that the university administration sever its ties with institutions involved in supporting the Zionist enemy and adopt a clear stance against genocide and crimes against humanity.
The organizers emphasized that this step is part of a series of ongoing student movements across American universities demanding an end to investments and institutional support for any institution involved in the aggression against Palestine.
