A Spanish media report has revealed that Barcelona has identified its first major signing for the upcoming summer transfer window.
Barcelona achieved a domestic treble this season but exited the Champions League in the semifinals. The club is now looking to strengthen its squad with top-tier players to reclaim the title that has eluded them for the past decade.
According to Catalan newspaper Sport, Barcelona has prioritized the signing of Colombian star Luis Díaz, Liverpool’s winger, as their main target for the summer transfer window.
The report added that the 28-year-old Díaz possesses the qualities sought by Barcelona’s sporting management, led by Portuguese director Deco.
The newspaper also noted that Barcelona’s head coach, Hansi Flick, has given the green light for the club to pursue Díaz. There is a consensus within Barcelona that the team needs a forward who excels as a left winger—a role Díaz performs exceptionally well.
However, the report indicated that Liverpool would demand no less than €85 million for Díaz’s transfer.
It is worth mentioning that Díaz had previously expressed his dream of playing for Barcelona, as he has been a lifelong fan of the club since childhood.
