Press conference & seminar held for Sana'a unity club's 70th anniversary

Sana'a - Saba:
Sana'a Unity Club in the capital secretariat held a press conference and intellectual seminar on Wednesday to mark the 70th anniversary of its founding.

At the conference, Ali Al-Lahji, Deputy Secretary of the Capital, highlighted that the club has been a hub for sports, youth, cultural, and organizational activities, making it one of the most prominent clubs in the region.

He discussed the club's achievements over recent years, accomplished through tremendous efforts led by its dedicated members, particularly club president Amin Jama'an, describing the club as a unique model of a fully integrated sports institution.

For his part, Sana'a Unity Club President Amin Jama'an noted that the club's anniversary coincides with the 35th National Day of the Republic of Yemen (May 22), the day Yemen announced its greatest achievement—the re-declaration of the blessed Yemeni unity.

Despite challenges due to aggression and blockade, Jama'an emphasized that the club's leadership has worked tirelessly to elevate this historic sports institution to its current distinguished status, making it a destination for youth, athletes, and sports entities.

During the conference—attended by Deputy Secretary Mazen Nu'man and Dr. Jaber Al-Bawab, Assistant Undersecretary for Planning at the Ministry of Youth and Sports—Jama'an affirmed the club's commitment to further development to serve the sports and youth movement.

He envisioned the club as a "sports empire" that must be preserved and enhanced, outlining its programs, including internal tournaments for age groups (juniors, youth, and promising talents), local and street football championships, regular events in equestrianism, basketball, and cultural activities.

Jama'an also highlighted infrastructure development, modern facilities, and diverse economic projects, praising the club's staff for their pivotal role in its success.

Former club president Abdulwali Al-Qadi commended the achievements under Jama'an's leadership, expressing pride and full support for the club's continued progress.

Additionally, an intellectual seminar was held alongside the press conference, discussing the club's founding history.

Two working papers were presented: the first, by club Secretary-General Mohammed Al-Sadiq, reviewed the club's milestones from 1954 to 2025, covering its establishment, founders, championships, international participations, and future vision.

The second paper, by Dr. Mohammed Al-Nazari, titled "Sana'a Unity Club: The National, Inclusive Sports Project," explored the club's role in advancing Yemen's sports movement as a unifying national institution.
