Sana'a - Saba:
Aden governor Tariq Salam on Wednesday affirmed that the Yemenis' celebration of the 35th National Day of the Republic of Yemen on May 22 is a celebration of a historic achievement that united the two halves of the nation and eliminated the division planted by the hateful British colonialism and cemented by its artificial sultanates and sheikhdoms, which the new occupier is attempting to replicate.
In a statement, Salam explained that unity was a dream and aspiration for every Yemeni until it was achieved on May 22, 1990, through pure popular will and national consensus that dashed all the hopes and ambitions of the hateful colonial powers. He emphasized that unity, with its establishment, ended a history of conflict and war between the people of the same nation, with external support and backing.
He pointed out that the occupying powers want Yemen to be torn apart and transformed into small cantons that work for their benefit and achieve their goals and projects at the expense of Yemen and its people. They realize that the unity of Yemenis, without the involvement of their malicious conspiracies, will have a significant impact and play an influential role on the Arabian Peninsula, the region, and the entire world.
The Governor of Aden explained that Yemeni unity is a pivotal event and a historic achievement that has brought about a significant transformation in the present and future of Yemenis. This unity stems from the awareness of the Yemeni people, their determination to overcome difficulties, and their rejection of the division that was the product of foreign colonialism and a destructive project that destroyed the unity and brotherhood of the people of one nation.
He added, "When we speak of or defend Yemeni unity and the challenges and calls for division it faces, we are not acting on the basis of mere regional calculations and political entitlements, but rather inspired by a faith-based belief fundamentally based on unity."
