Moscow - Saba:
Konstantin Kosachev, Vice Chairman of the Russian Federation Council, emphasized that US President Donald Trump was the first to realize that Russia, like any other country, is an active player in international relations.
Sputnik quoted Kosachev, commenting on the phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart, Donald Trump, via his Telegram channel: "Based on the results of the conversation between Putin and Trump, there is a feeling that two advisory and negotiating groups have been formed (but not finalized): a Russian-American group and a Ukrainian-European group."
He continued: "The first is discussing the prospects for achieving peace, while the second is discussing the possibility of continuing the war."
Kosachev explained that the Europeans are doing everything they can to include Trump in their group, where Ukraine is the subject and Russia is the target.
The deputy chairman of the Russian Federation Council said: "Trump was the first to realize that Russia is the focus of international relations, like any other. I hope he also realizes that Ukraine has become a tool and a project, destroying peace in Europe and threatening to escalate the conflict into a global one."
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, which he described as "meaningful, frank, and very useful." He noted that it lasted more than two hours, and expressed his gratitude to Trump for the United States' participation in the resumption of direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
