London - Saba:
Iranian Ambassador to the UK, Ali Mousavi, discussed the latest developments in the arrest of a number of Iranian nationals in London during a meeting with the British Deputy Home Secretary for Security, warning against the implementation of "false flag operations" aimed at harming bilateral relations.
The Iranian Embassy in London announced on Monday evening in a post on the social networking site X that the Iranian ambassador had a preliminary meeting with Dan Jaffers, the British Home Secretary for Security, according to the Iranian News Agency (IRNA) on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the two sides had a constructive exchange of views on a range of issues, including some alleged security threats, particularly the recent arrest of a number of Iranian nationals.
According to the post, the Iranian ambassador noted that a number of Iranian nationals had been arrested by British police two weeks ago on suspicion of terrorist acts and subsequently released without charge. He asked the other side to discuss this issue with other members of the British Parliament and warned of the possibility of third-party interference in the form of "false flag operations" aimed at harming relations between Iran and the United Kingdom.
The embassy added that "both sides emphasized the importance of dialogue based on good faith and decided to continue their meetings and contacts to resolve misunderstandings and disputes."
The meeting comes at a time when the arrest of a number of Iranian citizens in recent weeks on security charges has affected the atmosphere of relations between Iran and the United Kingdom.
