A meeting in the capital Sana'a, chaired by Ambassador Ismail al-Mutawakil and attended by OCHA's Deputy Director, Rosaria Bruno, discussed on Monday how to activate the Emergency and Disaster Operations Room and improve joint coordination for emergency response, especially given the challenges from the "US-Israeli aggression."
Participants, including the Head of Civil Defense, emphasized better coordination between agencies and international organizations for rapid emergency response and access for rescue teams.
Ambassador al-Mutawakel noted the Operations Room's launch after signing its terms of reference, aiming to address Yemen's growing humanitarian needs, and called for a comprehensive plan to tackle challenges from aggression and climate change.
OCHA's Deputy Director affirmed commitment to strengthening coordination for urgent civil defense needs and humanitarian response.
The Head of Civil Defense advocated for clear joint working mechanisms to avoid delays.
