Rafah - Saba:
Dozens of Italian activists gathered on Monday in front of the Rafah border crossing on the Egyptian side in North Sinai to condemn the ongoing aggression on Gaza and the restrictions imposed on the entry of aid into the Strip.
The solidarity demonstration, part of growing international protests against Israeli military operations that have worsened the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, included Italian politicians, academics, and human rights advocates.
The activists raised banners with slogans demanding an end to the war, the permanent opening of the Rafah crossing, and the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid. Signs read phrases such as "Stop the Genocide in Gaza" and "Freedom for Palestine."
The Italian activists expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian people, who are suffering from severe shortages of food, water, medicine, and fuel. They emphasized that the closure of the Rafah crossing since May 2024, after Zionist forces took control of the Palestinian side, has suspended the entry of aid, exacerbating the suffering of over 2.3 million Palestinians in the Strip.
According to eyewitnesses in Al-Arish, the Italian delegation organized a visit to aid warehouses in the city, where hundreds of trucks loaded with humanitarian supplies are piled up, waiting for permission to enter Gaza.
The activists expressed frustration over the slow international response and the failure to reopen the crossing, urging the international community to pressure "Israel" to allow the flow of aid without conditions.
The Rafah crossing is the main lifeline for humanitarian aid into Gaza, as it is the only crossing not directly controlled by the enemy. Since the start of the Zionist war on Gaza in October 2023 following the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation, the crossing's closure has severely impacted the delivery of essential supplies.
