Al-Hodeida - Saba:
MP Mansour Wasel, Shura Council member Ibrahim Aidrus, and Al-Hodeida Deputy Governor Muhammad Halisi today inaugurated the rehabilitation and operation project for two water wells in Al-Jarahi District, implemented under the supervision of the Local Corporation for Water and Sanitation with funding from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) at a cost of 180 million Yemeni riyals.
The project included construction of a 50-cubic-meter reinforced concrete water tower, installation of solar power systems for Khalafah and Al-Zawqar wells with all accessories, supply of two 60 kW electric generators, two pumps with accessories, two 7.5 kW power stations, and laying 2,090 meters of 160-mm pipes and 500 meters of 110-mm pipes.
The work also involved building perimeter walls for the well sites, constructing operation rooms for wellheads, and establishing wash valve and air vent chambers.
During the inauguration attended by Assistant Deputy for the Southern Square Mutahar Al-Hadi, Deputy Governor Halisi described the project as an important step to improve water services in the district, reflecting effective partnership between local and international entities in meeting citizens' needs.
He appreciated ICRC's efforts in funding the project and praised the role of the Local Water Corporation in project management and implementation, while commending the local community's support for development and service projects.
Director of the Water and Sanitation Corporation Abdulrahman Ishaq explained that the project was implemented according to precise technical standards that will improve service quality and pumping efficiency, especially in water-scarce areas.
Director of the Red Crescent Society branch Jaber Al-Razahi stated the project is part of a series of interventions implemented in partnership with ICRC to improve the humanitarian situation in the governorate.
ICRC Mission Head Makram Soua affirmed continued support for water and health projects in priority areas in coordination with official and local authorities.
