Peace Now, a movement that monitors settlement activity in the occupied West Bank, said that the Israeli archaeological excavations at the archaeological site in the Palestinian town of Sebastia aim to strengthen Israeli control over the northern West Bank.
The movement added in a statement on Monday that they are part of a project to establish a tourist settlement with investments amounting to tens of millions of shekels (one dollar = 3.57 shekels) in the heart of a densely populated Palestinian area in the northern West Bank.
