Gaza - Saba:
Sami Abu Zuhri, a leader in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), has denied any truth to rumors about the movement's agreement to release nine Israeli prisoners in exchange for a two-month truce. He stressed that talk of such an agreement is inaccurate and merely an attempt to mislead.
Abu Zuhri said in press statements Sunday evening that the Zionist enemy is trying to confuse the Palestinian and media arena with fake news aimed at pressuring the resistance and covering up its ongoing crimes in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas leader stressed that the movement will not release any more prisoners as long as the enemy insists on continuing its aggression until the end. He also indicated the movement's readiness to release all Israeli prisoners at once, provided the aggression on Gaza stops with clear international guarantees.
He stated that Hamas's initiative to hand over the American-Israeli soldier Idan Alexander came within the framework of preparing the ground for a comprehensive agreement, but the US administration did not appreciate this positive step.
Earlier, the official Israeli Broadcasting Corporation announced Sunday evening that Tel Aviv had proposed a 60-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in exchange for Hamas releasing half of the remaining Israeli prisoners.
