Lisboan - Saba:
Voters in Portugal are voting on Sunday in the third parliamentary elections in three years, with Prime Minister Luis Montenegro expected to win but without a parliamentary majority.
Opinion polls indicate that Montenegro's center-left Democratic Alliance party is ahead of the Socialist Party, with more seats, but once again falling short of the necessary majority to govern, which requires 116 seats out of 230 in the Portuguese parliament.
The far-right Chega party is likely to come in third again, making it a potential pivotal player despite Montenegro's refusal to govern with the populist movement.
Polling stations opened at 8:00 a.m. local time (7:00 GMT), and exit polls are expected to be released at 9:00 p.m. after the polls close.
Final official results are expected several hours later.
