The historic Plaza de Mayo in the heart of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, witnessed a massive demonstration commemorating the 77th anniversary of the Nakba (catastrophe) of the Palestinian people and condemning the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the repeated violations in the occupied West Bank and Quds.
The demonstration began at Plaza de Mayo, a symbol of popular resistance in Argentine memory. The demonstration was called by the Argentine Committee for Solidarity with Palestine, emphasizing the link between the struggle for human rights in Argentina and solidarity with oppressed peoples around the world, especially the Palestinian people.
The demonstrators carried Argentine and Palestinian flags and banners denouncing the genocide being perpetrated against civilians in the Gaza Strip.
They raised pictures of Palestinian martyrs and banners demanding an end to the Israeli aggression and holding the occupying state accountable for its crimes before international courts.
The participants condemned the daily raids carried out by the occupation forces in cities and villages in the West Bank, including Quds, and the accompanying arrests, home demolitions, and attacks on civilians.
The event included a solidarity vigil in Plaza de Mayo and a distinguished art exhibition featuring a collection of drawings documenting the suffering of the Palestinian people under occupation by Argentine-based American artist Brian Carlson, known for his artwork advocating for humanitarian causes.
During the event, representatives of the organizing committee and a number of political and human rights figures emphasized the need to strengthen international solidarity with the Palestinian people and halt the ongoing crimes against them.
They called for pressure on governments and international institutions to hold the Israeli entity accountable and end its policy of impunity.
