Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah Sheikh Naim Qassem on Monday affirmed that attempts to weaken the resistance and isolate it from the Lebanese equation have failed in the past and will not succeed in the future. He emphasized that any attempt to isolate the resistance is a deceptive illusion that has no place in reality.
In a speech delivered Monday evening on the ninth anniversary of the martyrdom of jihadist leader Mustafa Badreddine, Sheikh Qassem said: "Whoever thinks they can bring down the resistance through pressure or isolation is repeating the failure they suffered in the war." He emphasized that political and media pressures will not succeed where the Israeli military machine failed.
He pointed out that the resistance, with its leadership and sacrifices, has succeeded over the past years in deterring the Israeli occupation and thwarting its plans to annex Lebanese territory and impose humiliating agreements. He added: "The resistance is what protected Lebanon and imposed the deterrence equation."
Qassem stressed that "Israel" continues its aggression and pressure today, but in a political guise. He asserted that the continued strength and steadfastness of the resistance will drive the enemy to despair and consolidate the equation of pride and dignity in the face of the Zionist project.
Regarding the Palestinian issue, he emphasized that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "will not be able to confiscate the rights of the Palestinian people, despite all the crimes and aggression," praising the steadfastness of Gaza and the heroism of the resistance factions, which "exposed the Israeli entity and demonstrated its brutality before the world."
Sheikh Qassem also condemned the repeated Israeli attacks on Syria, which target Syrian sovereignty, and affirmed his confidence in the ability of the Syrian people to thwart Israeli objectives, just as the resistance fighters in Lebanon and Palestine had thwarted them.
In honoring the martyred commander Mustafa Badreddine, he noted that the martyr was among the first to confront the occupation after the 1982 invasion and led qualitative operations against the enemy, embodying the model of a steadfast resistance leader on the ground.
At the end of his speech, Qassem called on the Lebanese to adhere to national principles and support the option of resistance in the face of aggression. The ongoing Israeli aggression, stressing that Lebanon can only be protected through resistance and national unity.
