Washington - Saba:
A U.S. official familiar with the Gaza ceasefire negotiations confirmed on Monday that talks will commence following the release of soldier Aidan Alexander.
The American source told CNN, "Once Alexander is released, we will immediately enter negotiations on a broader agreement," noting that the Gaza deal will involve regional countries.
Alexander is expected to be freed in the coming hours. On Sunday evening, Hamas announced its agreement to release the detainee after direct talks with U.S. envoy Whitekoff.
Meanwhile, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz cited an Israeli source stating that preparations are underway for Alexander’s release by 8:00 PM today.
