Gaza - (Saba):
The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, affirmed on Monday its rejection of turning aid into a tool of political blackmail and its support for the UN position rejecting any arrangements that do not respect humanitarian principles.
In a statement, the movement said: "We strongly reject turning aid into a tool of political blackmail or subjecting it to the occupation's conditions. We affirm that the proposed mechanism represents a violation of international law and an abdication of the occupation's obligations under the Geneva Convention. It is an extension of the policy of starvation and dispersion, which gives the occupation additional time to commit crimes of genocide. This requires a firm international, Arab, and Egyptian stance."
She commended the position of the United Nations and international organizations rejecting any arrangements that do not respect basic humanitarian principles, most notably neutrality, independence, humanity, and impartiality. She emphasized that the only entity authorized to manage and distribute aid is the relevant international and governmental institutions, not the occupation or its agents.
She called on the international community not to be deceived by the occupation's false narratives, and to work immediately to completely lift the blockade and open the crossings to the flow of food and medical aid, under UN supervision and free from any military or political interference.
She emphasized that the occupation's continued prevention of aid entry and disruption of the humanitarian distribution system clearly reveals its deliberate intention to create famine and bears full responsibility for the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.
