Sick children 4th batch leaves Rafah Crossing for treatment
[Wed, 05 Feb 2025 16:45:13 +0300]

Gaza - Saba:

The fourth batch of sick and wounded Palestinian children, along with their companions, on Wednesday began leaving the Gaza Strip through the Rafah land crossing to receive treatment abroad.

The Israeli occupation authorities had delayed sending a list of approvals for the exit of the wounded and sick from the Gaza Strip, which caused the travel of the fourth batch of them to be postponed.

The head of the pediatric department at Nasser Medical Hospital, Ahmed Al-Farra, explained in press statements that the wounded and sick were scheduled to travel from the Gaza Strip yesterday, but it was postponed until today due to the occupation's procrastination.

He stated that the Israeli side's criteria are selective and temperamental and do not depend on the severity of the patients' cases that need treatment abroad.

He said about 30 and 40 thousand cases in Gaza are waiting to be transferred for treatment outside the Strip; due to the Israeli war of extermination and chronic diseases.

Al-Farra added that the occupation did not allow the exit of the specified number of patients according to the agreement, which is 50 patients, as about ten percent of the cases were returned.

He continued, "According to the ceasefire agreement, 150 cases leave daily for treatment abroad, but the occupation has only allowed 38 patients to leave."

He touched on the fact that the occupation has not yet allowed the two categories of war wounded, civilians and military personnel, to leave for treatment abroad.

This postponed batch is the fourth batch of patients from the Gaza Strip scheduled to travel for treatment outside the Strip.

The evacuation of patients from the Gaza Strip with their companions began last Saturday, when 50 wounded and sick people left, followed by 46 patients the next day.

This is the first time that the Rafah crossing has been opened after the Israeli aggression that targeted the city of Rafah during the war of extermination, as the crossing was closed on May 7, 2024, in both directions.
