Paris - Saba:
France has condemned the repeated attacks carried out by settlers against Palestinian citizens in the West Bank.
In a statement issued on Thursday evening, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "France condemns the repeated attacks by Israeli settlers in the West Bank, which have resulted in the killing of four Palestinians in recent days in the village of Kafr Malik (northeast of Ramallah) and the town of Surif (northwest of Hebron)."
The statement added, "France calls on the Israeli government to take firm measures to put an end to the violence committed by these extremist settlers."
It continued, "France reiterates its condemnation of settlement expansion and strongly opposes any form of annexation."
The statement further noted, "At the national level, France has imposed individual sanctions on 59 extremist settlers involved in acts of violence against Palestinian civilians in the West Bank."
The settlers' attack on Kafr Malik on Wednesday evening led to the martyrdom of young men: Murshid Hamayel, Mohammed Al-Naji, and Lutfi Sabri, while seven other citizens were injured by gunfire from settlers and Israeli occupation soldiers, according to the Ministry of Health. Additionally, vehicles and homes were set on fire.
Last Thursday, citizen Mohammed Ahmed Mahmoud Al-Hour (48 years old) was martyred, and eight others were injured by settler gunfire in the town of Surif.
Alongside the ongoing Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, the occupation army and settlers have escalated their assaults in the West Bank, including occupied Quds, resulting in the martyrdom of nearly 1,000 citizens, the injury of around 7,000 others, and the arrest of more than 17,500, according to official figures.
